Mr. Schmiedl joined CENTERS at Cleveland State University in August 2013 to lead the marketing and advertising efforts for University Recreation and Wellbeing. In addition, he has formulated business plans, marketing strategies, and cultivated the “CSU Rec” brand to support both the university’s and the department’s advancement objectives. He has also developed and launched a number of initiatives to catalyze growth in key targets, and implemented new marketing strategies to build engagement with both the CSU and Cleveland communities. After more than 10 years of service at CSU, he now serves in the role of Enterprise Marketing Manager providing strategic marketing support to multiple CENTERS site operations.
Mr. Schmiedl is a 9-time NIRSA Creative Excellence Award recipient (including 1st place wins in 2014, 2019, and 2022), the recipient of a CENTERS Quest for X Award in 2017, and the winner of an APEX Award of Excellence and Magnum Opus Honorable Mention Award, both in 2011. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a digital marketing certificate from Cleveland State University, and is also a certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Corrective Exercise Specialist among others.
