The Hmong New Year Brings Culture, Community, and Celebration to The Sonnentag
After a five-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Hmong New Year celebration returned to Eau Claire, hosted at The Sonnentag Event Center on October 26–27, 2024. This culturally significant event not only marked the beginning of a new year but also honored the rich traditions and history of the Hmong community while celebrating the bountiful harvest season.
The event, which drew a crowd of more than 4,000, provided an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to celebrate Hmong culture, experience traditional performances, and enjoy authentic cuisine. Hosting at The Sonnentag allowed for a larger turnout than ever before, ensuring the celebration could be enjoyed indoors—unaffected by unpredictable weather.
By facilitating this event, The Sonnentag strengthened its ties with the local Hmong community and demonstrated its commitment to being an inclusive venue for all cultural celebrations. The success of Hmong New Year reaffirmed the importance of providing a space where communities can gather, share traditions, and create lasting memories.
The Sonnentag is excited to continue welcoming diverse events that celebrate the many cultures of Eau Claire.
