Live concerts, college sports, and community events drive Year Two energy at this premier venue
The Sonnentag Event Center is turning up the volume this fall with a diverse lineup of concerts, family entertainment, and collegiate athletics that promises something for everyone. As the region’s newest hub for live events and campus life, The Sonnentag is quickly establishing itself as a must-visit destination, and this fall is no exception.
Hot off a blockbuster spring and summer slate—including comedian Jeff Foxworthy, a sold-out Bob Dylan performance, and the debut of the Eau Claire Axemen arena football team—the fall season is set to be even hotter.
Things kick off with a rock-heavy punch on Friday, August 30, as Tom Keifer (of Cinderella fame), L.A. Guns, and rising rockers Close Enemies hit the stage for a night of powerful vocals, blazing guitars, and full-throttle energy. Whether you’re a fan of glam metal classics or new-era edge, this triple bill will be the first true rock show at The Sonnentag.
Then it’s time to dust off your parachute pants and crank up the nostalgia. On Friday, October 4, the “I Love the 90’s” tour rolls into town, bringing with it hip-hop icons Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Rob Base, and Young MC for the 100th Homecoming at UW–Eau Claire. Expect an evening packed with throwback hits and high-energy performances that will take fans straight back to the golden era of rap and R&B.
Families can mark their calendars for Monday, November 4, when Elmo and Friends bring their fun and fuzzy antics to The Sonnentag stage. Perfect for kids and kids-at-heart, this interactive Sesame Street-themed performance is sure to be a hit with younger audiences.
More events are expected to be announced soon, so fans are encouraged to stay tuned and keep an eye on the full schedule at SonnentagEvents.com.
In addition to public events, the John and Carolyn Sonnentag Fieldhouse is buzzing with campus activity all season long. Home to a climate-controlled, state-of-the-art indoor facility, the fieldhouse is now a central hub for UW–Eau Claire football and soccer practices, as well as the rhythmic pulse of the Blugold Marching Band as they prepare for game days and performances.
Also making a major move this season is the UWEC Volleyball team, which now calls The Sonnentag home. With new seating, enhanced lighting, and game-day amenities, the venue provides an elevated experience for players and fans alike.
And after a successful debut year, Blugold men’s and women’s basketball return for their second season at The Sonnentag, ready to build on growing momentum with big matchups and even bigger crowds.
From chart-topping artists to collegiate sports, youth programming, and beyond, the Sonnentag Event Center is redefining what it means to bring community, campus, and culture together—all under one roof.
