Shaping Young Lives Through Play: Erin Stevenson’s Impact at KidRec
At CENTERS, we believe that dedicated people create meaningful experiences—and Erin Stevenson, Coordinator of Youth Programs (KidRec) & Community Outreach, is a shining example of this commitment. Through her leadership, Moraine Valley Community College’s (MVCC) KidRec has become a dynamic space where children build confidence, stay active, and discover their potential in a fun and supportive environment.
Building a Foundation for Learning and Play
Since KidRec opened at MVCC in July 2016, it has been a cornerstone for families seeking engaging, developmentally enriching activities for their children. Erin has played a pivotal role in expanding programming, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring that every child who participates feels valued and inspired.
Says Erin of FitRec’s purpose, “KidRec opened to meet the needs of our FitRec families. This addition offers unlimited KidRec visits, open times for families to enjoy together, and additional classes and programs designed to encourage children ages 3 months to 13 years to stay active and have fun!”
More Than Just Play—A Place for Growth
Under Erin’s leadership, KidRec’s programs go beyond recreation—they help children develop essential life skills. By fostering partnerships with MVCC’s Children’s Learning Center, Theater Department, Science Building, and Police Department, Erin has expanded opportunities for both physical activity and intellectual engagement.
Through KidRec’s programs, children have the opportunity to:
- Develop teamwork and leadership through structured activities
- Enhance creativity and problem-solving with arts, theater, and STEM programming
- Stay active and build healthy habits through sports and fitness programs
- Experience campus life in a fun, welcoming environment
A Leader Making a Lasting Impact
At CENTERS, we believe in uncompromised quality, continuous learning, and community impact. Erin embodies these values by creating programs that engage, challenge, and inspire kids, leaving a lasting impact on their confidence, social skills, and love for learning.
Thanks to Erin’s leadership and passion, KidRec continues to grow and evolve, serving as a place where children feel supported, challenged, and excited to learn. We are proud to have Erin leading the way, ensuring that every child who walks through KidRec’s doors has an experience that inspires, empowers, and lasts a lifetime.
