Nick Froelich

Director of Campus Recreation Services at Cleveland State University

Mr. Froelich is the senior leader responsible for the overall functional and day-to-day operation of the Cleveland State University Campus Recreation Services department. The department is housed in the 110,000 square foot Campus Recreation Center encompassing a $5.0 million operational budget with annual revenues in excess of $1.0 million. Nick's leadership includes the following areas: strategic planning; fiscal administration; human resource management; policy making and implementation; facility maintenance and custodial services; member & guest services; fitness & wellness; aquatics & safety; intramurals; club sports, camps; adventure recreation; technology and marketing & advertising. Until his promotion in April 2016, Nick served in three prior capacities at Cleveland State University as Assistant Director of Member & Guest Services, Associate Director of Facilities & Operations and Senior Associate Director of Facilities & Operations. Prior to joining CENTERS, Nick was employed for three and half years as the Assistant Director – Student Activity & Academic Center at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Nick interned at Washington University in St. Louis and completed his graduate and undergraduate degrees at Georgia State University and The Ohio State University respectively. Nick has been a NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation member since his time as an undergraduate student in 2004. He has served as the NIRSA Region III Regional Representative responsible for the communication between NIRSA’s leadership groups and the individual members in the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Nick has also served NIRSA as a member of the William N. Wasson Student Leadership & Academic Award Committee and has assisted the Program Committee as an annual conference proposal reviewer. He had the privilege to serve the Georgia Recreational Sports Association (GRSA) as one of the four founding members and worked on the Executive Committee as the first State Secretary. Nick has served as President-Elect, President and Past President of the Ohio Recreational Sports Association (ORSA) and has also chaired the State Workshop Host Committee, Nominations & Elections Committee, Budget & Allocation Committee and Professional Development Committee. He also served as the Professional Host Site Coordinator for the 2014 Ohio Recreational Sports Association State Workshop and 2016 Region III Student Lead On both held at Cleveland State University. Nick has presented professionally at national, regional and state conferences and workshops. He has also assisted CENTERS with their consulting services division. Nick lives in Avon Lake, Ohio with his wife, Leslie, and his daughters, Elizabeth and Maggie.
